Reviews say Auto-Owners auto insurance is worth a look if you live in one of the 26 states it serves. It gets very good feedback from its policyholders -- almost as stellar as the top-rated insurance companies, USAA and Amica Mutual. Customers seldom report any problems, and they say Auto-Owners is unusually prompt when it comes to paying claims. Auto-Owners also gets excellent financial-strength ratings from Weiss Ratings (the most stringent of the ratings agencies, ConsumerReports.org says) and A.M. Best.
J.D. Power and Associates and ConsumerReports.org both conduct large surveys of policyholders and use the resulting data to rank insurance companies -- including Auto-Owners -- from best to worst. The Better Business Bureau gives Auto-Owners a reliability grade, based on customer complaints. Policyholders post their own reviews at Viewpoints.com.
